THE EVENT

The 22nd annual CAMY 5K RUN & DAVID 5K WALK will again be held in person, on SAT., NOVEMBER 12, 2022 - Rosina Fun Run 50 yards for kids, 9:30 a.m.; David 5K Walk, 9:50 a.m.; Camy 5K Run, 10 a.m.

Held at Walpole Italian-American Club, 109 Stone St., Walpole, Mass., on the second Saturday in November, the USATF-certified (#MA15011RN) event was created in 2001 in honor of Camilio “Camy” Clerici and his grandson, David Clerici, Walpole I-A Society members who died nine months apart in 2000. The Rosina Fun Run for kids is named in honor of Camy’s widow and David’s grandmother, Rosina Clerici, who died in 2006. And the David 5K Walk top trophies are named in honor of his late parents (the Frank Clerici Sr. Award to the 1st male finisher; the Carol Hunt-Clerici Award to the 1st female finisher).

FIELD SIZE: No cap.

MASKS: At the indoor number pickup at Walpole Italian-American Club, 109 Stone St., Walpole, masks MUST BE WORN (over nose and mouth). At outdoor start area, finish area, walking between areas, it is recommended that those who are not vaccinated to wear masks in close proximity to others.


REGISTRATION: Registration is available online, via mail-in application, or on race-day. Application attachment and online link located below.


NUMBER PICKUP (race-day only): Pickup time for numbers and race shirts (shirts are free for the first 100 race/walk entrants) is SAT., NOV. 13th (8-9:30 a.m.). MASKS MUST BE WORN indoors and please maintain proper distancing!

START: We will be returning to the single-start format for the walk and for the run.


WATER STATION: NO on-course water station. Please plan accordingly.


FINISH: Once you finish, feel free to stay and socialize. But there will be NO post-race activities.


POST-RACE: NO post-race activities (no food, no water, no awards ceremony, no live raffle). Building will be closed after registration.


AWARDS: NO awards ceremony. But if you'd like the trophy/age-group medal in case you win, select that option on your application. It will be ordered afterward and you will be contacted for pickup.


RAFFLE: Raffle items will be on display at registration and winners will be picked later in the day and listed on Facebook and website. Tickets - $1 each/8 for $5 and can be purchased on the race application, online registration, race-day registration, or by mail (in case you can't make the race, but wish to partake in the raffle). You will either receive ticket stubs or e-mailed numbers, depending on how you purchase them. Any questions, contact camydavid5k@yahoo.com

PARKING: NO street parking, per Walpole Police (street is part of course). Use Knights of Columbus lot next to I-A Club or nearby town pool and Town Hall lots. Handicap parking available at I-A Club.

DIRECTIONS

FROM THE SOUTH - Rte. 95N to Exit 19/old Exit 9 (Walpole Rts. 1 & 27). Follow Rte. 27 to set of lights. Left at lights onto Rte. 27N. Left at 3rd set of lights onto Washington Street. Turn right onto Stone Street at bottom of the hill. I-A Club is on left in approximately 2 miles.

FROM THE NORTH - Rte. 95S to Exit 21/old Exit 10 (Coney St./Walpole/Sharon). Left at end of ramp onto Coney Street. Proceed approximately 3/10th of a mile to set of lights. Turn right onto Rte. 27N. Follow Rte. 27N thru Rte. 1 intersection. At 3rd set of lights, take left onto Washington Street. Turn right onto Stone Street at bottom of the hill. I-A Club is on left in approximately 2 miles. Follow directions above.

FROM ROUTE 1A N/S - At middle set of lights in Walpole Center (with Walpole Co-op Bank on right, old Town Hall on left), turn onto Stone Street and proceed for approximately half-mile thru School Street intersection. I-A Club is on the right.

Above - The 20th annual Camy 5K Run & David 5K Walk was actually held as a rare in-person on-course race and walk on Nov. 14, 2020, and raised a remarkable $2,800, despite the reduced field of 25 participants due to proper safety measures. Thanks to the generosity of the community, businesses, runners, walkers, volunteers, and donors, checks were recently presented to the Walpole Italian-American Club ($700) and Walpole Italian-American Society ($700), for a combined $1,400 to the General Operating Fund; Walpole Community Food Pantry ($700); and Carol Hunt-Clerici Chamber Music Series Clerici Quartet ($700).
