24th annual CAMY 5K RUN & DAVID 5K WALK will be held on SAT., NOV. 9, 2024.
-Rosina Fun Run 50 yards for kids, 9:30 a.m.; David 5K Walk, 9:50 a.m.; Camy 5K Run, 10 a.m.
Walpole Italian-American Club, 109 Stone St., Walpole, Mass., the second Saturday in November. The USATF-certified (#MA15011RN) race was created in 2001 in honor of Camilio “Camy” Clerici and his grandson, David Clerici, Walpole I-A Society members who died nine months apart in 2000. Rosina Fun Run for kids named in honor of Camy’s widow and David’s grandmother, Rosina Clerici, who died in 2006. David 5K Walk top trophies named in honor of his late parents - Frank Clerici Sr. Award (1st male finisher), Carol Hunt-Clerici Award (1st female finisher). Held annually since its inception, including pre-vaccine pandemic 2020, as reportedly the only official in-person on-the-course road race run in Massachusetts!
FIELD SIZE: No cap, no limit.
MASKS: Optional. No mask mandate (although, we will comply with any new regulations).
REGISTRATION: Available online, via mail-in application, or on race-day (8-9:30 a.m.).
NUMBER PICKUP (race-day only): Bib numbers and race shirts (shirts are free for first 75 race/walk entrants) is 8-9:30 a.m.
STARTS: Single start for the walk (9:50 a.m.) and single start for the run (10 a.m.).
WATER STATION: One - at about 1 1/2 miles on the course.
POST-RACE: Post-race activities with food, raffles, awards ceremony, etc.
AWARDS: CAMY 5K RUN: Top 3 male/female trophies. Age-group top 3 male/female medals - 14&U, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80&O. Trophies - Camy Award (1st I-A Club member - any town); David Award (2nd-to-last finisher); Bill Hunt Award (1st Walpole male); Alice Grace Hunt Award (1st Walpole female); Coach Squires Award; Clydesdale (top 3 males 200+lbs.); Filly (top 3 females 140+lbs.). No duplicate winners. Priesing Award (special recognition). DAVID 5K WALK: Trophies - Frank Clerici Sr. Award (1st male finisher), Carol Hunt-Clerici Award (1st female finisher). ROSINA FUN RUN: 50-yard dash for 11&U. Ribbons to all (no fee, no registration, no shirt - just show up!)
RAFFLES: HUGE raffles (must be present to win). Free runner/walker raffle. And a separate raffle with one-of-a-kind items, gift certificates, clothing, autographed memorabilia, collectibles from Olympic running legends like Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Frank Shorter; and much more. Tix ($1 each, 8 for $5).
BENEFITS: Walpole Community Food Pantry, I-A Club/Society, Carol Hunt-Clerici Chamber Music Series Clerici Quartet, among them.
PARKING: NO street parking, per Walpole Police (street is part of the course). Use the Knights of Columbus lot next to I-A Club or nearby town pool and Town Hall public lots. Handicap parking is available at I-A Club.

DIRECTIONS
FROM THE SOUTH - Rte. 95N to Exit 19/old Exit 9 (Walpole Rts. 1 & 27). Follow Rte. 27 to set of lights. Left at lights onto Rte. 27N. Left at 3rd set of lights onto Washington Street. Turn right onto Stone Street at bottom of the hill. I-A Club is on left in approximately 2 miles.
FROM THE NORTH - Rte. 95S to Exit 21/old Exit 10 (Coney St./Walpole/Sharon). Left at end of ramp onto Coney Street. Proceed approximately 3/10th of a mile to set of lights. Turn right onto Rte. 27N. Follow Rte. 27N thru Rte. 1 intersection. At 3rd set of lights, take left onto Washington Street. Turn right onto Stone Street at bottom of the hill. I-A Club is on left in approximately 2 miles. Follow directions above.
FROM ROUTE 1A N/S - At middle set of lights in Walpole Center (with Walpole Co-op Bank on right, old Town Hall on left), turn onto Stone Street and proceed for approximately half-mile thru School Street intersection. I-A Club is on the right.

The event raised $2,000, despite low donation and participant numbers due to tough times for some businesses and then Hurricane Nicole windswept rains overnight and race morning.
